Fake Ghee Racket Arrests

  • Officers seized a total of 2,651 litres of adulterated ghee from the illegal units.
    • 2,241 litres were found in a godown in Budh Vihar.
    • 410 litres were recovered from a facility in Jind, which was sealed by police after the raid.
  • The adulterated ghee was reportedly packaged under labels of reputed brands, designed to deceive distributors and consumers.
  • Authorities believe the racket was timed to exploit higher demand for ghee ahead of festivals such as Diwali.

👥 Accused Arrested
The two men arrested in connection with the racket were identified by police as:

  • Raksesh Garg (38) — linked to the godown in Delhi.
  • Mukesh — associated with the Jind facility.
Both have been booked under relevant sections at the Crime Branch police station and are facing charges related to food adulteration and fraud.

🔍 How the Fake Ghee Was Made
Preliminary investigation revealed that the alleged makers of the fake ghee had blended:

  • Low-grade vanaspati ghee,
  • Refined vegetable oils,
  • Flavouring agents and synthetic colours,
to mimic the texture, aroma and appearance of pure desi ghee. The adulterated product was then filled into containers with labels resembling popular brands before being sold to wholesalers and retailers.

📌 Health and Consumer Risk
Such adulterated ghee products are considered unsafe for consumption because they are made from cheap oils and artificial additives rather than pure dairy fat, posing potential health risks and defrauding customers who pay for what they believe is genuine ghee.
